The city of Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen passed unanimously a $145.2 million budget Tuesday, on first reading, including a 2.5 percent employee raise and the city's property tax rate, which stayed the same. Franklin City Administrator Eric Stuckey said the adjusted tax rate of a 10-cent increase last fiscal year has already benefitted the city in its operations and infrastructure. The current tax rate is 41 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. President of the Franklin Firefighters Association David Edge was present in the audience, accompanied by approximately a dozen Franklin firefighters. “We have met with the city over the past couple of days,” Edge said. Edge explained that he is thankful for the pay grade adjustment, but still believes it could be more.
