The Deer Park community is mourning the loss of a beloved firefighter who died on May 6, the Deer Park Fire Department has confirmed.
On Monday, officials from Chief Robert Macaluso's office announced Daniel Agababian's passing on Facebook, writing:
"The Chief's office is deeply saddened to announce the passing of a dedicated 30-year member, Firefighter Daniel Agababian. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a true and valued member of our firefighting family. Details to follow.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Firefighter Agababian’s family, friends, and all those who had the honor of knowing him." Chief Robert Macaluso was not immediately available for comment.
Agababian's obituary reads:
"Daniel M. Agababian, a dedicated son and father who spent over 30 years as a Deer Park volunteer firefighter, has sadly passed away on May 6, 2024."
