A cooking incident led to a minor fire in a Williston apartment complex Sunday night. According to authorities, fire crews were dispatched just before 10:00 p.m. to the 600 block of 53rd Street East following an automated smoke alarm activation and a confirming phone call. When crews arrived, they found an active evacuation in progress and were told there was smoke on the third floor of the apartment complex. Firefighters quickly located the source of the smoke, extinguished the fire and ventilated the area. The cause of the fire was determined to be a stove-top cooking accident. Damage was limited to the apartment and no structural damage was observed. All occupants were able to re-enter their homes within an hour. No injuries were reported.
