Springfield crews responded to a one alarm fire on Saturday evening.
We’ve learned nine people have been displaced from the multi-family house and are being assisted by the red cross.
One eyewitness told us she saw the smoke from her house a street over, saying, “I was sleeping and smelled smoke and when I woke up, I seen it outside. I went out and looked and it was this beautiful house on fire.”
Springfield Fire Captain Drew Piemonte reported the call came in around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and when crews arrived shortly after, a large fire had engulfed the front of the house.
One resident we spoke with said they came to check out the scene after seeing the smoke from one street over, claiming, “All the firetrucks came rushing down and cops and they did their best to put it out.”
