Emergency crews in Monson responded to an injured hiker on Sunday afternoon. According to the Monson Fire Department, at around 1:53 p.m. firefighters were on scene for reports of an injured hiker at Peaked Mountain. When crews arrived they requested additional resources to assist as the injured hiker fell off a ledge of 5 to 10 feet and suffered several broken bones. Officials said the individual was carried out by hand from the summit and when they made it back to the landing zone, the patient was flown by LifeFlight to a nearby hospital.
