VIDEO/PHOTOS: Crews responded to a large fire on the west side of Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon. A Wayne Township Fire Department spokesperson said crews were dispatched to Zore’s Inc. — which is located near the 1300 block of North Mickley Avenue — around 3:30 p.m. because emergency personnel received a call about a large plume of smoke in the area. Firefighters arrived at the scene and discovered a large pile of scrap metal was on fire. Officials then doused the fire with water. WTFD reported that attacking the fire was difficult because the blaze was on the back side of the property. For that reason, crews had to run 3,500 feet of large-diameter hoses from various hydrants around the property to the fire. Multiple central Indiana fire agencies — including the Speedway and Pike Township Fire Departments — responded to the scene.
