Firefighters were dispatched to a barn fire in Sheldon that resulted in multiple animals dying.
At about 4 p.m. Monday, March 25, firefighters found the barn at 3097 Log Ave and it was completely burned to the ground upon arrival. The Sheldon Fire Company says crews were able to protect the area around the barn. Firefighters worked to extinguish flames that were coming from not only the barn but also a large amount of hay which was located inside the building during the time of the incident.
The Sheldon Fire Company says firefighters had to use about 15,000 gallons of water and foam to fully extinguish the flames. The cause of the barn fire is unknown, but the Sheldon Fire Company says a heating lamp could be a likely cause because the owner stated the farm had welcomed baby goats last week and used the device to keep them warm.
