The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death of a man injured on Sunday at a construction site in Mangilao, according to a U.S. Department of Labor spokesperson.
The man was struck on the head by a backhoe bucket while spotting another person who was operating the backhoe to dig a hole, according to Guam Fire Department.
Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Aurelio Espinola, said he might conduct the autopsy on the man Thursday.
The injured man was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital, said spokesman and firefighter Kevin Reilly. GFD medics and advanced life support personnel responded to the site on Palomares Street in Mangilao at about 4:20 p.m., Reilly said.
