Neighbors now looking for a new place to live after an apartment fire on Saturday. More than a dozen firefighters help put out the flames on North Ashley Street. Firefighters say they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the building when they arrived. WALB spoke with neighbors who say they rushed out of their homes with what they could grab. “I said “Oh God” put on my pants and by the time I got my shoes on my windows were busted out and my curtains were on fire. I grabbed my backpack on the way out the front door,” a neighbor said. The American Red Cross is helping the three displaced residents. This resident told WALB that Red Cross was able to assist with temporary housing and luckily he will be able to move into a new unit by the end of this week.
