A house fire Sunday morning near New Castle sent two people to the hospital, though only one left the scene with a complaint of injury. The fire companies Good Will, Holloway Terrace, Minquadale, Wilmington Manor, Christiana, Cranston Heights, Claymont, Five Points and Port Penn Fire all dispatched with paramedics just before 11 a.m. for the fire on Gene Avenue north of New Castle. A 66-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, authorities said. A 55-year-old man went, as well, but authorities said he did not complain of injury. There were no fire fighters injuries reported at the scene. The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
