One person was killed in a Lafayette house fire Wednesday morning, and investigators are trying to determine what started it. Construction workers at a neighboring site called 9-1-1 at 9:47 a.m. to report a house on fire at 806 Dounce Street, according to Lafayette police Cmdr. Brian Rosipajla. Fire crews from Lafayette, Louisville and Rocky Mountain fire departments were able to put the fire out, but emergency crews found the body of one person inside the home. Rosipajla said investigators could not say yet whether the person — who has not yet been identified — was a resident of the home. Investigators also did not release the victim's age or gender. No other people appeared to be in the house at the time of the fire. One dog, which was not hurt, was taken to Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Boulder County Assessor's records identify the owner of the house as Jameson Scott. He could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
