A fire swept through a storage shed in northwest Fort Collins and killed 28 chickens Wednesday morning. Poudre Fire Authority firefighters responded about 11:45 a.m. to the fire in the 1000 block of North Overland Trail. They got the fire under control within about 10 minutes and prevented it from spreading to a nearby single-story home. However, they were unable to rescue the chickens, which were housed in a chicken cage in the shed.
