On Saturday, a fire truck was struck in two separate incidents after arriving on the scene of a separate car accident in Fremont, the Fremont Fire Department said.
Just after 7 a.m., Fremont firefighters responded to a car accident on northbound I-680, south of the Andrade exit. Fire officials said they parked by a patient’s car to “protect” the accident’s location.
While attending to the patient, the fire truck was then struck by two cars on two separate occasions, Fremont fire officials said.
The driver of one of the cars that struck the fire engine sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital by Falck ambulance.
“Thankfully, no firefighters were injured,” Fremont fire officials said. The fire truck, Engine 59, was towed, and a reserve fire engine will be placed into service.
