Emotions flared Monday night as the four-member majority of the La Verne City Council limited the role of one of its colleagues for reportedly disclosing confidential information.
The La Verne City Council accused Councilman Tim Hepburn of disclosing confidential information discussed in closed-door sessions involving a legal dispute with the La Verne Firefighters’ Association.
“In dealing with the lawsuit and navigating that lawsuit, we’ve had to have closed sessions and decide strategies and methods to move forward,” Councilman Muir Davis shared. Hepburn participated in those closed sessions and agreed with the entire council, staff, and inside and outside counsel.
“You presented yourself and said, ‘I’m in support of this strategy going forward.’ You left that meeting, and you undermined everything we did by communicating with the opposing party,” Davis said.
