With fire crews working around the clock to battle multiple forest fires Fresno Air Attack Base is ramping up resources with federal supplemental support during one of the busiest fire seasons the base has seen. The main goal is to get air crafts with fire retardant in and out to add air support to fires across the U.S. but with the high amount of active fires in the Central Valley the National Forest Service and Air National Guard activated federal supplemental support. "Fire season started out average, the last month it has really picked up. The fire activity and the number of fires has increased," said Fresno Air Attack Base Manager Jon Harpain. Mission Commander Major Erik Brown said each plane can drop up to 3,000 gallons of retardant and the planes have been working around the clock helping restrict fire and minimize damage.
