PHOTO: The Thatcher volunteer firefighters were warm Saturday as they practiced finding a concealed dummy in a house and later burned the building in a training exercise. The house that was donated for the fire department’s use was on Fourth Ave and Fourth Street in Thatcher. Thatcher Fire Chief Mike Payne told the Courier about Saturday’s training. “We had them go in and do a search. While they were doing a search, they would go over a place where the floor would collapse on them. We have it rigged so it would drop on them. Then they’d go in, find the person (dummy), knock the fire down to get the person(dummy) out and drag them back outside,” Payne said.
