VIDEO: It took several hours for firefighters to clear the scene of a building fire that sent plumes of heavy smoke into the air, forcing nearby evacuations. Multiple fire departments responded to the building, located on Highway 14 just east of Harrisburg, around 3 p.m. Friday. Poinsett County Sheriff Kevin Molder told K8 News that several people in the surrounding area were evacuated due to the heavy smoke. Police shut down the Highways 14 and 163 as firefighters worked to knock down the flames. According to the Arkansas Department of Transportation, the roads were reported back open shortly before 7 p.m., Friday, April 26. Molder said Trumann, Central, and Harrisburg Fire Departments responded to the fire. Rodney Sweeney of Sweeney Motors said the fire started at an old feed store.
