Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire at a Burger King restaurant in Birmingham Saturday evening. The Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service was called to the 1500 block of 6th Avenue South, just before 6:30 p.m. Advertisement When crews arrived, they saw light smoke in the building. Everyone inside the building evacuated safely. Fire crews had to cut holes in the roof to help with ventilation. The kitchen suffered damage from the fire, and the business will be closed for now. Firefighters believe the fire started in the ceiling. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
