A woman was killed Saturday in a fire at her Midfield home. Midfield firefighters and police responded to the woman's home just before 11:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Stone Road, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. Once they extinguished the flames, the found the adult victim inside. She was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:20 p.m. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of her family. Authorities have not released a cause of the blaze, but said no foul play is suspected. The incident remains under investigation by Midfield and the Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office.
