Authorities have released the name of a man killed Friday night when he accidentally caught himself on fire outside of his Vestavia Hills home. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Javier Silva. He was 47. The fire happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. Friday on Seven Oaks Circle off Massey Road where the victim lived with his family. Authorities said there was a fire burning on the family's patio. It wasn't immediately clear whether it was a recreational fire pit or some kind of trash was being burned, but coroner's officials said gasoline was involved and a gas can was found nearby. Somehow Silva caught himself on fire.
