Teen breaks window to escape Bessemer house fire

Bessemer Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of an early morning house fire. The fire happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday morning in the 900 block of Avenue G. According to Captain Cannon, the fire started in the rear bedroom. There were at least four people in the home at the time of the fire. A 15-year-old boy was taken to the hospital to be treated for cuts. Officials say he broke a window to escape the fire. This fire is still under investigation.
