The Randolph County Rescue Squad is celebrating its 50th anniversary Saturday, Oct. 14, at 40 Middle School Road in Wedowee from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Hot dogs will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Matthew Knight, paramedic and owner of Emergency Medical Transport, is secretary-treasurer of the squad. He said those attending can look at their equipment and hear the squad's history.
He proudly states it was chartered by his father, Ralph Knight, in March, 1967, and it is one of the oldest rescue squads in the state.
