CORRECTION - Yesterday's headline on this story mistakenly said Chief Scott was taking a position in Albany, New York when it should have read Albany, GEORGIA - Albany City Manager Sharon Subadan announced at Tuesday’s Albany City Commission meeting that Cedric Scott has been named the city’s new fire chief.
Scott, who currently is serving as fire chief for the city of Suffolk, Va., and has served in that position in Waycross, College Park and Rockdale County in Georgia, is expected to take over the Albany Fire Department in June. He replaces Ron Rowe, who retired at the end of 2017, as Albany’s chief.
Sebon Burns has been serving as interim APD chief while the search for a permanent chief was ongoing.
“I’m so excited about Chief Scott coming to our city,” Subadan said after Tuesday’s commission meeting. “He’s coming to us with enthusiasm, he has great credentials and a great attitude. He’s been a fire chief, and he really wants to be here.
