Two Days After Fall, Pennsylvania Firefighter Succumbs to Injury

A North Belle Vernon firefighter died two days after he sustained serious injuries enroute to call. Charles E. Horan, 61, was preparing to leave his home to assist law enforcement access the roof of a building when he tripped and fell just before 11 a.m. on Sept. 19. Horan was transported to the hospital. He succumbed to his injuries earlier today, according to the U.S. Fire Administration. He was a safety officer with the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, where he served for 43 years.
