One day after police raided his lockers at the Woodward Avenue Station, firefighter Kenneth Burgos was put on leave with pay. On Sept. 15, police searched two lockers at the Woodward Avenue Station and did not leave empty-handed, though it is unclear what they found. The search and seizure warrant, signed on Sept. 14, instructed police to search Burgos’ two lockers for any statements of transaction history including cash, check, or ATM withdrawals for Burgos’ own accounts or accounts owned by a 94-year-old city resident from May 2012 to the present. Burgos has not been arrested or charged with a crime. Given that it is an active investigation, no information on the case will be released, police said. As he did with Lt. Kevin Owens — who was suspended after allegedly using a racial slur on Facebook — Chief Allyn Wright quickly removed Burgos from the firehouse and placed him on administrative leave with pay following the raid. Wright is awaiting the results of the ongoing police investigation into the matter before proceeding further.
