Ronald B. "Hutch" Hutchings

(March 24, 1933 - August 24, 2007)

Ronald B. “Hutch” Hutchings, 74, Huron, died Friday, August 24, 2007, in the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born in Cleveland, OH, on March 24, 1933.

He was involved with fire service for 37 years, with the City of Parma Heights, OH, holding the rank of Chief for the last 13 years, retiring in 1992.

Ron spent two years as President of the Northeast Ohio Fire Chief Association, and a year as the President of the Ohio’s Fire Chief Association. He was presently secretary- treasurer of the IAFC Great Lakes Division, where he was named Secretary Treasurer Emeritus, and was involved with numerous fire services duties and had several other accomplishments.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Jablonski) Hutchings, to whom he was married 56 years; and a son, Richard Hutchings, Pompano Beach, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Gertrude (Schroeder) Hutchings.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2007, at 11 A.M. in Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne St., Sandusky. The Rev. Ernest Matijasic will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio Fire Chief Foundation, Ohio Fire & Emergency Services, 131 Dillmont Dr. #201, Columbus, OH 43235 or Hope Lodge Patient Services, 11432 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland, OH 44106.
