Firefighters save two cats from Meridian house fire


No one is hurt after a fire at a house on Arnaz Street in Meridian. The fire was called in at 5:05 PM on Sunday. Five Meridian Fire engines, one ladder truck, and the Battalion Chief responded to the fire. Eagle Fire’s Battalion Chief also responded along with Ada County Paramedics and Meridian Police. The fire started in the garage and spread to the second floor and then the attic. Firefighters rescued two cats. Veterinarians are caring for them and they are expected to make a full recovery. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Large fire in Ammon just for training


VIDEO/PHOTOS: A large structure fire in Ammon had many residents concerned Wednesday night. But, Ammon Fire Department Fire Chief Steven Berg said, it was just training “to educate firefighters a little more.” Firefighters had been doing the training over the past couple weeks at a donated structure at 3715 South Ammon Road, Burg said. As of 9 p.m., they were just getting ready to put the fire out.

1 person injured in Bingham County fire


A person is recovering after a house fire in Bingham County. This happened in the area of Pioneer Road early Wednesday morning. The Blackfoot Fire Department said one person was taken by ambulance to the hospital for injuries. The Blackfoot Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
