VIDEO/PHOTOS: Instead of decorations lining the walls of Oshkosh Fire Station 17, there's artwork on the ceiling.
Third grade students from Read Elementary School are the artists behind the project.
"The kids were very excited when I told them," said art teacher Becky Bartow. "They drew pictures first and then transferred it right to the tiles and did beautiful paintings."
On Thursday, the students visited Station 17 to see the fire department-themed ceiling tiles they painted, which are on display in the station's Community Room.
"To see the finished products and see those installed, it was really just breathtaking," said Fire Chief Mike Stanley.
Stanley said the Oshkosh Fire Department has a "great partnership" with Read Elementary School and the two have collaborated on a number of unique projects, such as installing a fire department-themed playground.
