PHOTOS: The Madison Fire Department announced on Tuesday that it received national recognition for their work in improving outcomes for patients who experience sudden cardiac arrest. The ‘Heart Safe Community’ award is only given to two fire departments in the United States by the IAFC and the PulsePoint Foundation. MFD celebrated this recognition at the 2024 IAFC national conference. Madison Fire Chief Chris Carbon says this award highlights the successful collaboration the department has with local hospitals and emergency departments. “A collaborative and unified approach to the prevention and treatment of cardiac arrest is the true key to success, and we are grateful to have so many dedicated partners in this effort,” said Carbon. MFD says it proudly accepts the national honor and will continue efforts toward increasing cardiac arrest survival.
