VIDEO: A fire that started in the kitchen of a Tomah home on Wednesday morning ends up causing damage throughout the residence. Tomah Fire Chief Tim Adler said they were called about 8:30 a.m. for the fire at 826 Cranberry Circle. Heavy smoke was coming from the front windows on the first floor. Once inside, crews found that the fire had spread to the upstairs part of the home. Assisting Tomah firefighters, members of the Fort McCoy Fire Department put a fire on one side of the home. Chief Adler said there was substantial damage fire, smoke, and water damage inside and on the outside the home. The three people in the home at the time got out safely. No injuries were reported. The chief said the traced the start of the fire to the kitchen where a toaster caught fire. He reminded people that when cooking, someone should be in the kitchen to attend to any problems.
