A fire station in western Wisconsin is celebrating a rare milestone. On July 15 the River Falls Fire Department gathered to celebrate firefighters Gene McKahan and Gary Eloranta. They've each reached 50 years of service to the River Falls community, totaling a century of service. For many years, Gene served as an officer within the department and was key in its operations. Nowadays, you'll find Gene touring area schools and teaching kids how to prevent fires. Gary joined the department just months after helping form River Falls Area EMS. He's also been instrumental in the department's training program. Both men joined the fire department in the summer of 1974.
