The US Forest Service will spend over $25 million to reduce wildfire risk across Washington State. According to the Forest Service, the Community Wildfire Defense Grants will help local and regional communities prepare for more intense future wildfire seasons. According to the US Department of Agriculture, climate change will continue to cause longer and more destructive wildfire seasons. The new funding will allow several state, local and private entities to better prepare for fire season. Improvements in Riverside State Park, Ferry County and Grant County are from grants received to reduce potential wildfire fuel and make landscapes more resistant to heat.
