VIDEO: Fire officials have confirmed one person died in a house fire in northwest Spokane Tuesday night. According to fire officials, the fire broke out at a home on West Elmhurst Avenue off West Francis Avenue, (3700 block of West Elmhurst Avenue), near the Yoke's Fresh Market Indian Trail location. Neighbors say they heard a explosion around 6:20 p.m. Officials say the fire was in the garage in the back of the house. The Spokane Fire Department says there was dark heavy smoke when they arrived on scene.
