A fire broke out near Mabton, during the evening of Wednesday June 26. Scan reports suggest a spark from an electricity transformer ignited the blaze on State Route 22 near the Yakima River. Multiple stations responded, with West Benton Fire aid requested and bulldozers helping to create a fire wall. Powerlines were downed by the blaze. No confirmed reports of any structure damage or injuries have yet been issued. Eyewitnesses from the Mabton area report the fire is contained as of 9:00AM, June 27.
