PHOTOS: The Spokane Fire Department (SFD) and Spokane County Fire District 9 responded to several fires last week during the record-setting heat.
According to SFD, on July 18 around 5:30 p.m., firefighters received multiple calls about a house fire in the area of North Majorie Street in the Pacific Park neighborhood. Upon arrival, firefighters found a large garage fire at a three-story home. The fire had also spread to a car parked in the driveway.
Firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby homes and buildings and managed to rescue the family’s dog. Although they were able to contain the blaze, the garage and its contents were lost, and there was smoke damage inside the home. Damage estimates total $150,000, but firefighters saved property valued at over $350,000.
