The Fire US Forest Service is reporting minimal growth for the lightning caused South Fork Fire burning 25 miles southwest of Naches. Fire activity is low and suppression activities were aided by moisture received over the fire area on Saturday, June 29. Due to improved mapping, the fire is estimated to be 27 acres. Fire crews were able to construct a fire line around the entire fire, and they also worked on extinguishing several small spot fires that resulted from fire activity earlier last week; these spot fires were discovered and contained on June 29. Approximately 100 personnel, including five fire crews, a water tender, and one helicopter are working on the fire in a full suppression effort. Peninsula Creek and the South Fork Tieton campgrounds are closed. Clear Creek area is open.
