This engine will be replacing a nearly 20-year-old engine. Engine 1114 was originally ordered in April 2022 from a manufacturer in Oregon.
The new engine was just over half a million dollars, sitting at $672,000. The purchase was made through BCFD1's general operating budget. Engine 1114 can hold six people in its cab and transports 750 gallons of water. The pump cable allows 1,500 gallons per minute while pumping water.
Another $40,000 was used to add rescue equipment, firefighting tools and hoses to the engine. The retiring engine will still remain as a back-up option when other firefighting vehicles are out on calls or getting serviced.
To celebrate the upgrade, BCFD1 hosted a "Push-in" on February 17. The first for BCFD1.
