PHOTOS/VIDEO: The Pasco Fire Department has put their newest station into operation.
Station 85 is located on Road 100. The City of Pasco says it's a milestone in extending coverage to neighborhoods south of Interstate 182, and will help cut down on emergency response times. Ben Shearer, Public Information Officer for the Pasco Fire Department, tells us, "Not only does it help their insurance rates, having a fire station closer, but really, it keeps us going on that city council goal of a six minute response time. Not only does it help this area here, but it also helps the whole community." Shearer adds that the addition of this station will help keep firefighters in the allotted district when multiple calls start to come in. The Pasco Fire Department says the new station will house four personnel, a medical unit, and a structure fire engine.
