The Naches Fire Department was one of numerous fire crews in Yakima County to receive medical devices through ARPA funds.
30 fire departments in Yakima County, including Naches, received a 'Lucas Three Device'.
According to their Facebook page, they received the new equipment through a grant application by the Yakima County department of emergency medical services and director Tony Miller.
Naches's training captain explains how the Lucas Three Device provides CPR compressions. "With this machine, it can go continuously,” said Dan Mansfield, “as long as it's hooked to power or has a battery in it, then it will continue doing compressions at the right rate and the right depth."
Naches fire also received three new AED devices which they say analyzes the heart rhythm to see if a shock is necessary.
