Many people in the Elk community are now left without a home due to the Oregon Road Fire. The community wants to rebuild, but some are underinsured or don't have insurance at all.
Because of this, a community meeting was held Tuesday night to direct those affected by the wildfires to valuable resources. But in order to help, the county needs an accurate count of how many people are in need of assistance.
Disaster Assistance Center intake forms were handed out to everyone at the meeting, where people could fill out the losses that they have insured and what their current insurance status is.
Once the intake form is filled out, the group can connect victims with a caseworker, but the organization warns that this could take some time.
