VIDEO: A person is dead after a house fire in Bonney Lake trapped them inside a one story-home.
East Pierce firefighters were dispatched shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday night to a residential fire at the 18200 block of 95th Loop St E. Dispatchers received reports that a person was trapped inside the burning home.
“When I walked outside it was covered in smoke, and we were trying to figure out where it was coming from. Walked out front and couldn’t see anything then you started to see the fire trucks start coming down," said Kim Ehrlich, who saw the flames.
Crews began to attack the fire at the single-story home to locate the trapped person as soon as they arrived. The fire was quickly contained to the bedroom of origin, according to East Pierce Fire & Rescue (EPFR).
