A homeowner lost a pet in a house fire in Kelso Monday morning.
At about 9:45 a.m., Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue and Longview Fire were called out to a fire in the 100 block of North Maple Street. Officials say a delivery driver reported a home was on fire and that it appeared no one was home.
When crews arrived to the scene, they saw flames and smoke coming from the home. The fire was brought under control 25 minutes after crews arrived, officials say.
Sadly, one dog died in the fire. There were no other injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
