Firefighters were called to a Union Gap address on South 3rd Street around 1:00 AM Tuesday morning after reports of a structure fire and a person with mobility issues, trapped in the basement.
Firefighters were able to reach the basement despite the heavy smoke and flames engulfing the lower part of the building, ultimately rescuing the man who was trapped downstairs.
He was treated for smoke inhalation and burns by medics on site before being transported to Yakima Memorial Hospital.
No details about the victim, including his identity, have been released to the public and his current condition is unknown at this time.
