"Therapy dogs do wonders… even weeks after tragic events," Spokane County Fire District 8 said after sending a therapy dog to the other end of the country. There, the dog spent quality time with the brave men and women who provided aid to the people involved in a tragic mass shooting. Thanks to donations from union members, Spokane County Fire District 8 sent Chaplain Aaron McNally and his therapy dog, Pierce, to Lewiston, Maine last week. The pair visited fire crews in Maine who were affected by the mass shooting that took place in late October. Pierce is the first therapy dog for emergency responders at Fire District 8. He accompanies McNally as a chaplain doing station visits, responding to calls to interact with first responders on scene as well as those who are going through a difficult situation in their life.
