PHOTOS: Two new engines are currently being constructed for the city of Yakima Fire Department, with the first inspection coming up in a couple weeks. ARPA funding is paying for the engines. One will be used for station 91 and the other will go to station 95. Deputy fire chief D.J. Goldsmith, says this is a great start as the agency is getting worn out from all the calls that are coming in. "We're in desperate need of these engines and we're still looking and trying to figure out how we're going to continue... The apparatus sitting behind us as well is another one that is on a replacement plan that we're trying to figure out... These apparatus are 15 years old and have seen a lot of miles and a lot of use." A third engine is expected to be built as well, which could start as early as next spring of 2024.
