Emergency crews responded to a large fire at an encampment next to Interstate 5 in Seattle Tuesday morning. Video from a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) camera shows large flames and a plume of black smoke coming from a structure on top of a hill near the northbound I-5 on-ramp from South Dearborn Street. Seattle police and fire crews were dispatched to the encampment fire around 7:25 a.m. The on-ramp to northbound I-5 from South Dearborn Street was closed while crews responded to the fire. A spokesperson for Seattle Fire said two fire trucks responded to the encampment fire. Crews were able to get the fire under control before 8 a.m. The spokesperson said the fire burned an area approximately 30x60 feet in size.
