The Chattanooga Fire Department says an early morning house fire likely could have been avoided. CFD responded to a home around the 2000 block of Huff Place around 1:00 Saturday morning. Crews found a fire in the roof and extinguished it in 10 minutes. Officials say firefighters later found out there was a kitchen fire earlier that evening and that the resident thought they'd put it out with a garden hose. Unfortunately, CFD says that wasn't the case. They say that fire ended up smoldering and igniting the attic. CFD says if the residents had called 911 earlier and with an overhaul response from crews, things wouldn't have been as bad. Two residents are displaced.
