VIDEO/PHOTO: The Parker Fire Department said it is responding to a large pile of scrap metal fire on Old Easley Highway at Adam’s Scrap Recycling. The department has responded to this location several times in the past for different fires according to the fire chief. According to the fire department, the call came in at 5:51 p.m. and there are no injuries reported at time. Fox Carolina was told that a firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat-related issues. The department warns people to take precautionary measures and to stay inside due to the thick, black smoke rising from the fire. They also say to set air-conditioners to re-circulate mode to prevent smoky air from being drawn inside. Residents are asked to wear a mask if they go outside until they are no longer near the smoky area. The Duncan Chapel Fire Department is also responding.
