VIDEO/PHOTOS: A fire at an Applebee's restaurant in Garden City in Cranston suffered significant damage on Wednesday morning. The Cranston Fire Department believes the building may be a total loss following the morning fire. Firefighters responded to the restaurant on Midway Road when the flames became visible. However, the department told NBC 10 it believes the fire may have started around closing time at 1:00 a.m., reasoning that the fire was smoldering until it became visible later in the morning. An NBC 10 news crew observed flames visible from the roof and witnessed a partial roof collapse. Plumes of smoke were also visible. The smoke was even seen from NBC 10's tower cams. The location is towards the residential part of Garden City, and numerous neighbors got out of their homes to see the fire response.
