A fire at the Waterman Grille in Providence left two weddings outside Friday night.
Firefighters said a small kitchen fire broke out, and extended to a small area.
Officials said two weddings were forced to evacuate. Firefighters said the fire was quickly extinguished. Both weddings were able to return. One kitchen is closed, and the Department of Health has been notified.
A spokesperson sent NBC 10 the following statement:
"A fire broke out in the wall of the primary kitchen at the Waterman Grille restaurant this evening. Thanks to the swift response of the Providence Fire Department, our valued guests and employee owners remained safe. Unfortunately, the restaurant will be temporarily closed as we assess the damage and begin repairs.
At this time, group events booked in the restaurant’s private dining space will be serviced by its on-premise, fully-operational catering kitchen."
